"We felt like we too were on a mini honeymoon"
We stayed at The View when our closest friends got married locally — and we felt like we too were on a mini honeymoon. The setting is completely magical: waking up to those views, the cedar ceiling, the terrace with the morning light coming across the meadow. It is one of those rare places that genuinely exceeds the photographs. The estate is beautifully private and the owners' little cocker spaniel wandering past on the first morning was an unexpected delight. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

I booked The View whilst working locally in Tunbridge Wells for a week, expecting somewhere comfortable to rest between long days. What I found was something far better — just idyllic. The Wi-Fi is genuinely fast, the kitchen is fully equipped, and the silence is extraordinary. I ended up extending my stay by two nights simply because I did not want to leave. The forest walks from the door in the evenings were the perfect way to decompress. Highly recommended for anyone who needs to think clearly.

We have been looking for somewhere special to spend the days between Christmas and New Year for years, and The View was it. The Samsung Frame TV with the soundbar made for brilliant film evenings, the kitchen is a joy to cook in, and the covered terrace with the outdoor lighting was magical on clear winter nights. Groombridge village is a short drive and the Crown Inn is wonderful. The estate cats made a very welcome appearance on Christmas morning. We have already booked again for next year.

We visited in mid-October and the surrounding woodland was breathtaking — the colours were extraordinary. The annexe itself is everything the photos suggest and more: the cedar ceiling, the full-width glazing, the views across the Weald. We walked to Birchden Vineyard for a tasting on our second afternoon which was a highlight. The outdoor shower for post-walk boot washing is a genuinely thoughtful touch. The friendly working cocker spaniel who greeted us on arrival set the tone perfectly — warm, relaxed, and completely at home in this beautiful setting.

We are not people who usually write reviews, but The View deserved one. It is rare to find somewhere that manages to feel both luxurious and genuinely relaxing — most high-end places feel like you are trying too hard not to break anything. The View is the opposite: beautifully designed but completely comfortable. The views are as good as the name suggests. The Beacon restaurant is extraordinary — book it in advance and ask for a terrace table. We will be back in spring.

We booked The View hoping for peace and countryside — we got so much more than that. On our first morning we watched a small herd of deer move silently through the meadow below the terrace, close enough to see their breath in the cool air. That afternoon we sat outside with our tea and watched buzzards soaring on the thermals above the Weald for the better part of an hour. It felt like a nature documentary, except we were in it. The annexe itself is beautifully designed — the full-width glazing means you never miss a moment of what is happening outside. For anyone who loves wildlife and the natural world, this place is genuinely special. We will absolutely be returning.
